Documentary film THREE DAYS (OF HAMLET) Opens at Landmark’s Regent Westwood on April 19 to coincide with Bard’s 449th Birthday
Monday April 22 Designated “Student Monday” Where Students with Valid ID are Admitted Free. Proceeds from Several Opening Week Screenings will benefit LA Arts Organizations including City Hearts and the Independent Shakespeare Company.
Three Days (of Hamlet) gathers together a cast of veterans, including Richard Chamberlain, Stefanie Powers and Peter Woodward, as well as newcomers, and puts them in an arduous, chaotic, three-day rehearsal culminating in a performance of Shakespeare’s classic play. The lives of the players juxtapose with their characters in compelling and insightful ways, none more so than Hyde-White, son of British character actor great, Wilfrid Hyde-White, who is haunted by both fathers—his real-life one as well as his character’s. A child of the film industry in which his father was an internationally known player (immortalized as Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady), Alex Hyde-White (Pretty Woman, Catch Me If You Can, Game Change) always loved the classics, something in which his famous father had little interest. Three Days (of Hamlet) fulfills Hyde-White’s life-long desire to explore this iconic play while excavating the psychological terrain of father and son. Along the journey, he arrives at a new understanding of his own real-life roles as both son and father to two sons.

The great thespian, Bernardo Bernardo, will try to bring a semblance of joy when he hosts a star-studded fundraising concert on August 30 amid the harsh conditions being felt by our kababayans in the Philippines, many of whom are still reeling from the deaths of loved ones and damage wrought by monsoon rains that inundated most of Metro Manila last week.
Directed by Ms. Lou S. Sabas, the person who was also behind the gathering of stars that led to the successful launching of the January concert that benefited the victims of typhoon Sendong, the August 30 fundraising event will feature some of the most celebrated and kind-loving artists who will share their talent in a concert dubbed as “Damayan Para sa Bayan.”
Produced by 618 International Entertainment Inc., through the Imelda Papin Foundation, the concert at Noypitz Bar and Restaurant located at 933 N. Brand, Glendale CA 91204 is co-sponsored by the LSS Productions, Noypitz Bar and Restaurant, IM Productions, Manila Forwarder and Balita Media Inc., publisher of Weekend Balita and US Asian Post. For a mere $25 donation as entrance fee, proceeds from the concert will go directly to the flood victims, about two million Filipinos some of whom are still housed in evacuation centers, through the Imelda Papin Foundation.
According to Lou, apart from Imelda Papin herself, other artists who are slated to perform include Arnold G, Gloria Papin, Tateng Katindig, Ner de Leon, Malou Toler, Jo Awayan, Long Espina, Christine Love, Maffi, Fulton Montoya, Alex Arrieta, Mon Concepcion, the singing dentist, Dr. Ner Azaula, Friends of Mine and Flip Notes. Lou said there will also be surprise guests who have committed to appear in the show. Arnold G was a Fil-Am Grammy nominee and who is also a Hollywood recording artist and publisher of Hollywood magazine called Shine On Hollywood Magazine.
