HOLLYWOOD, CA, USA, July 31, 2023 - SHINE ON HOLLYWOOD MAGAZINE (SOHM) CELEBRATES ITS SPECIAL FAREWELL ISSUE FEATURING OUR COVER STORY PAYING TRIBUTE TO AIDA TAKLA-O’REILLY, BARBARA MORRISON, JUDY TENUTA, MILT LARSEN, TONY BENNETT AND CELEBRITIES & FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO DIED IN 2021 – 2023. PLUS SOHM MOURNS THE LOSS OF THESE LONG-TIME SOHM TEAM MEMBERS: JOHN L. SEITZ, RON C. PECK, DEREK TADASHI TAKEUCHI, AND BILLIE JEAN EASLEY-VALENZANO CELEBRATING A DECADE OF REAL PEOPLE AND THEIR REAL STORIES. This special farewell issue's cover feature focuses on Aida Takla-O’Reilly. She was a teacher, a journalist, a mentor, the youngest female pilot in Egypt at the age of 16, a leader, a mother, and a friend. In 2011, she was re-elected to serve a second term as the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (“HFPA”) overseeing the global telecast of the Golden Globe Awards, the precursor to the Emmy and Academy Awards ceremonies. The HFPA, once again, chose this hard-working, talented, and passionate orator who was uniquely equipped to lead this colorful group. A member of the HFPA since 1956, she represented Dubai and was previously the organization’s president from 1994 through 1996. Takla-O’Reilly’s second term ended in 2013 and she went on to serve as a HFPA Trustee and Advisor to the President. Also in this issue, we lost a legendary jazz singer Barbara Morrison who inspired countless audiences with her talent. She grew up in the Detroit suburbs. Her father was a doo-wop singer, and she sang throughout her young years. She moved to Los Angeles in 1971 at age 21 and worked with blues great Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson with performances on “The Johnny Otis Show.”She appeared on dozens of albums including her own and as a guest vocalist. Her albums included “I Know How to Do It” (1996) and “Visit Me” (1999). She sought to give back to the community by collaborating to open the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center in the Leimert Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, where she and local artists performed. She also went on to open the California Jazz & Blues Museum, which featured concert posters, instruments, and paintings by local artists. We also lost a woman known to fans as "The Love Goddess" and "Aphrodite of the Accordion," comedienne Judy Tenuta, who has passed away in her home in Studio City. One of nine siblings, Judy (after Judy Garland), was born in Oak Park, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), on November 7, 1949, into a Catholic family to a Polish mother, Johanna, and an Italian father, Caesar. She grew up in a staunchly Irish-Catholic neighborhood and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she majored in theater. A straight-A student her entire life, Judy was the first of the Tenuta family to graduate college. Her interest in comedy began when she took an improv comedy class with the world-famous Chicago improv group The Second City and shortly after began opening for other comedians in Chicago throughout the 70s. Recently, the world lost one of the foremost magicians and illusionists with the death of Milt Larsen at the age of 92. In 2000, Milt was voted one of the 100 most influential individuals in the history of magic. His long and storied career included owning the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, writer for the TV shows Truth or Consequences and This Is Your Life. He worked with show business legends Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Buddy Ebsen and Steve Allen, Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel, George Burns, and Jack Benny, among others. He was also considered the world’s foremost historian of the Vaudeville era. His impressive resume included being a long-time radio host and producing TV specials for ABC, CBS, and NBC. He was the creator and consultant for the $50 Million Caesars Magic Empire at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In addition, SOHM mourns the loss of these long-time team members: John L. Seitz was a Senior Writer for SOHM for 3 years. Beloved by many, John was a modern-day version of “The Great Gatsby.” He threw lavish parties annually in his Bel Air home overlooking the Getty Museum. He loved entertaining with musicians and befriended all kinds of eclectic people. John was a kind soul with a quick wit and he could catch you off guard with unusually interesting and funny stories that only Hollywood insiders could know. He was also very kind and compassionate and helped others where he could. For several years, he was involved in public relations with the Hilton Hotels and worked with many Hollywood celebrities and even past U.S. Presidents. He also was the previous owner of the local publication the Beverly Hills Courier. Under Shine On movement, Ron C. Peck was the Executive Researcher and Production Coordinator story for the critically acclaimed "Humania" Documentary focusing on homelessness and mental health crisis. As Ron described it, he led an inspired life of curiosity and learning that was touched and nourished by many people. As a young boy, he was an amateur radio operator. By high school, he was the emergency radio operator for the Kenosha Police and Fire Departments. As a young man in the Army, he served overseas during the Berlin Wall conflict stationed on NATO radio sites. Later in life and for over 30 years, he traveled the world building nuclear medicine clinics. He was a devoted husband to his wife Carol Peck for 55 years and a loving father to their three children, Tonya, Tara, and RC. His passion for the martial arts and helping others led him to form a close friendship with Olympic Judo coach, Willy Cahill, with whom he co-founded the Blind Judo Foundation. For 17 years, while Willy took care of business “on the mat,” Ron worked at the Foundation daily to secure funding and support blind and visually impaired athletes so that they could compete at the very top of their sport. Derek Tadashi Takeuchi was SOHM West Coast Digital Marketing Solution Manager on and off for 8 years and a C.E.O. of Takeuchi Galleries, an International Art Dealer, with over 30 years in the Art Business. He was a filmmaker, special events producer, and branding expert Takeuchi Galleries Art. Derek loved life and his greatest goal after generating commerce through the business world and trade was to simply help others -- that was his greatest motivation to succeed. He felt wealth is not a success, however, money is a required tool to achieve objectives. He gave his time to personally encourage and help others to believe in themselves, assisting them in learning new skills and most importantly understanding what it is to have faith and share with them that God loves them. He felt that there is no greater accomplishment than helping someone “ignite” the greatness within themselves especially when they did not believe they could ever accomplish their life’s goals. He was mentored by the founder of SOHM, Arnold Garcia for 8 years. Billie Jean Easley-Valenzano passed unexpectedly and went home to heaven on April 17, 2023. She was the Fashion, Public Relations, and Digital Media Supervisor for Shine On Hollywood Magazine on and off for 6 years. She earned a Master’s in Business Communications from California North-ridge University and demonstrated excellence in virtually every facet of the entertainment field while focusing her talents on journalism: she was employed at numerous crème de la crème entertainment magazines as a writer/ editor; she excelled as an editor and producer; and she led television, film, and commercial development for Mark Alyn Productions. In 2017, she founded Beverly Hills Fashion Society focusing on fashion, film, and finance opportunities. BHFS’s mission was to strengthen the impact of global fashion and arts. Plus, various videos of Celebrities & Famous People Who Died in 2021 – 2023 and the world lost one of the last great entertainers with the death of Tony Bennett. The upcoming 11th Anniversary issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine will feature the Daytime Emmy Awards 2022, (the 2023 Emmys are canceled due to the current writer's strike) presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, honoring the best in U.S. daytime television programming in 2021. Welcome to this special coverage from Shine On Hollywood Magazine. This special coverage from Shine On Hollywood Magazine. The May–June 2025 Special Edition is a heartfelt tribute to those deeply affected by the catastrophic wildfires that swept through Los Angeles earlier this year, to the victims who lost their homes, histories, and hope, and to the selfless heroes who stepped forward with courage during the darkest hours. Shine On Hollywood Magazine exists to do what few others won't: to pause, listen with empathy, document real lives, and tell authentic stories with compassion and depth. In a media landscape often dominated by fleeting headlines and sensationalism, this special edition invests its heart and soul in covering the truths that mainstream outlets tend to overlook. It is among the magazine’s most important and sincere releases to date. Every story within these pages aims not just to inform but to move readers deeply, inviting reflection, understanding, and recognition that for many wildfire survivors, the battle to rebuild and heal is far from over. At the same time, we celebrate those who rose to the occasion, showing what true community support and resilience look like in practice. There is an urgent need for more reporting like this, human, honest, and unapologetically connected. No excuses, only action. We hope this issue inspires readers to embrace their strength and greatness and reminds all of us of an essential truth: communities need each other, especially in moments of crisis. When the fires tore through neighborhoods, the losses extended far beyond physical structures. Along with homes, history was destroyed. Family heirlooms and treasured memories turned to ashes. Livelihoods vanished. And for many, the deepest loss was hope itself, a hope that may never fully return. This pain is not abstract. In the 1980s, our founder, Arnold Garcia, experienced a similar tragedy when his own home was consumed by fire. Without government aid or nonprofit assistance, he rebuilt his life from nothing, relying on the kindness of friends and sheer determination. Though that chapter had long been tucked away, the 2025 wildfires reopened those wounds, fueling a fierce resolve to give voice and dignity to victims and heroes alike. “What Now?” is far more than a magazine feature; it is a mission and a solemn promise that no story will be forgotten just because the news cycle has moved on. For many survivors, the journey toward recovery is only beginning. The January 2025 wildfires in Los Angeles, most notably the Palisades and Eaton fires, left a devastating mark on the region. More than 16,000 structures were destroyed, including homes, businesses, schools, and community buildings. Some estimates place the total as high as 16,251 structures lost, with over 200 more damaged. These fires further deepened an already critical homelessness crisis in Los Angeles County, which had more than 75,000 unhoused residents even before the disaster. The sudden displacement of thousands more, many of whom were without insurance or stable housing, strained emergency resources and challenged every aspect of long-term recovery. Tragically, at least 30 lives were lost, marking one of the deadliest wildfire events in LA’s history. But behind these numbers are real people, many still displaced, some sleeping in cars, couch-surfing, or facing homelessness. These fires didn’t just destroy property; they magnified LA’s worsening housing crisis and revealed cracks in our social safety net. VOICES FROM THE FRONT LINES Through exclusive interviews and first-person Q&As, survivors open up about their losses and the strength it takes to keep going. Meet those featured on our cover: • Harlan Boll, who said, “The fire took my home, but it also took pieces of my soul.” • Kevan Michaels, who watched his roof collapse, holding only his guitars and family photos. • Erinn Alissa Selkis, who lost her home, equipment, and irreplaceable keepsakes like her mother’s engagement ring and handwritten letters. These courageous individuals remind us: Even in the ashes, there is courage. Even in heartbreak, there is hope. But they still need our help, and it’s up to us to step forward. HONORING HEROES To the unsung heroes: Alex Otey, Marc & Malin Smith, Kenyan Armitage, Brent Harvey, and the many musicians, organizers, and donors, thank you for showing us what real community looks like. We also proudly recognize Myka Miller, Executive Director of the Guitar Center Music Foundation (GCMF). Those who endure such loss deserve recognition not only for surviving but for the grace and gratitude they embody in the face of unimaginable hardship. Their courage amidst the ashes and their hope in the face of heartbreak are powerful reminders of the resilience of the human spirit. Yet the need for support remains urgent. As a society, we share a collective responsibility to step forward together. The bravery and sacrifice of firefighters and first responders who risked everything to protect lives and communities demand our highest gratitude. Without their efforts, entire neighborhoods, perhaps entire cities, might have been lost. Their unwavering dedication inspires deep respect and heartfelt appreciation. This year, Shine On Hollywood Magazine proudly names the Guitar Center Music Foundation (GCMF) as its 2025 Non-Profit of the Year. In the wake of disaster, GCMF swiftly donated more than 400 musical instruments to artists who lost their homes and gear, restoring not just property, but purpose and identity. We urge readers to support verified crowdfunding efforts and local nonprofits like GCMF, which direct aid quickly and efficiently to those who need it most. In moments like these, donations should never be swallowed by bureaucracy or lost in administrative overhead. Every dollar, every act of kindness matters. To further amplify support, SOHM has partnered with GivBux, a powerful platform that transforms everyday purchases into real-time assistance for wildfire victims. Readers can participate by downloading the app and using the invitation code SOHM, turning simple daily actions into life-changing relief. This July marks a major milestone for Shine On Hollywood Magazine: nearly 13 years of elevating real stories from real people. Thanks to your support, we’ve continued this mission with compassion, free of clickbait, gossip, politics, and bias. The work is often volunteer-driven but always fueled by integrity and purpose.

Welcome to the May-June issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine, Top Dance Industry Professionals! Summer is here at last, and pandemic restrictions are finally lifting around the world! We’re sure that this news makes you want to dance with joy, as it does us! In recognition of this jubilant feeling, we’re honoring four interesting people who are involved with different aspects of the dance world. Whether this issue makes you want to go to a live dance performance or “trip the light fantastic” yourself, you now can satisfy your terpsichorean urges yourself in person! We are continuing to bring you “Real People, Real Stories” in this issue. Although these people may not be household names, they are examples of real people with authentic experiences and stories who are trying to make a difference in the dance and entertainment worlds. In so doing, we maintain our policy of no gossip and no divisive or negative content. We refuse to include content featuring religion, politics, sexual orientation, or any of the other things which divide us. Instead, we are continuing to connect people with positive stories of people giving back to the community. We are honored to present David Gonzalez as our cover feature. You may never have heard his name, but you know of the things he has created. This visionary brand creator founded the World of Dance brand in 2008, which has since grown to become the biggest dance competition in the world! Although not a dancer himself, David has a long history in the entertainment industry working with dancers. He went into business for himself as a DJ and equipment rental provider in his teenage years and has been a self-starter ever since. “World of Dance” is the realization of his dream to see all forms of dance coming together. In this issue, we are also proud to feature Mark Erickson. You probably have never heard of him, but we know you’ve heard of people with whom he’s worked. He took ballet class alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov. He and Mel Gibson made their American film debuts together in an Academy Award-nominated film. He danced with Lane Bryant, who performed in the original Broadway production of Gypsy. Sean Penn was his classmate at an exclusive Hollywood acting studio. Golden Era musical star Cyd Charisse called him her teacher. Mark’s journey has taken from a rustic upbringing in the backwoods of British Columbia to Hollywood success and finally to starting his own ballet studio in Temecula, California. His story is an inspiring one about discovering where life’s path will lead you. Also in this issue are two aspiring young dancers, Rebekah Brannan and Sergio Gomez. Although neither is a full time professional dancer, ballet is an important part of their lives. Their partner dancing is undeniably special due to their dedicated rehearsing together twice a week. Instead of being sidetracked by the pandemic, they were able to rehearse together more than ever, also working on original ballets together. Theirs is an inspiring story of finding creativity in difficult circumstances. The theme of this issue is to be open to unexpected paths. Whether you would imagine it or not, dance and other arts may waltz into your life. Be open to new opportunities, experiences, and artistic endeavors which come your way, since you may find a surprising passion, as this issue’s features did. We encourage you to “Let them be your motivation!” Thank you for your continued support of Shine On Hollywood Magazine! Stay tuned for our next issue, which will be our special 9-Year Anniversary Edition! Enjoy, SOHM Team FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 6, 2021 – HOLLYWOOD, CA – Popular digital publication Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM), with a circulation of 140+ countries worldwide, has released its 4TH Annual Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) Special Edition Issue, celebrating the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards with exclusive red carpet photos and videos of nominees and winners! Link: https://shineonhollywoodmagazine.com/shineGGA2021/web/html5/index.html?&locale=ENG SOHM’s mission statement continues to be: “Dedication to providing a positive, meaningful, and educational experience and to inspire our readers with knowledge and information from creative qualified industry professionals.” This year’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony looked very different because of the virtual format, but the HFPA worked to make it a memorable event. Celebrities gathered in the Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom in Los Angeles with host Amy Poehler and in the Rainbow Room in New York with host Tina Fey to act as presenters at the awards ceremony, while nominees accepted their awards from home via Zoom. Instead of celebrities, first responders and Feeding America food bank workers provided a small but appreciative live audience to the festivities. SOHM team members were at the Beverly Hilton two days during Golden Globes weekend, providing behind-the-scenes coverage of an awards show during the pandemic. For full coverage of this unique event, including ceremony highlights, pictures, videos, and a complete list of nominees and winners, you won’t find a more complete source than this issue! The Golden Globes theme continues with full coverage of two past Golden Globe Ambassadors, Cheryl Miller (Miss Golden Globe of 1966) and Gila Golan (Miss Golden Globe of 1967). Their stories are inspiring and entertaining windows into the history of the HFPA and the film industry. We are also honored to include tributes to the five HFPA members who died in 2020, Ray Arco, Alena Prime, Jack Tewksbury, former president Jorge Camara, and then-current president Lorenzo Soria. In addition, this issue features coverage of a virtual birthday party for famed magician Milt Larsen, who turned ninety on April 9, 2021. Although best known for founding the exclusive Magic Castle, stories his friends in the entertainment industry told during the hour-long Zoom presentation revealed that his impact has gone far beyond the world of smoke and mirrors. “I am excited about introducing our 4th Annual HFPA Edition, which is availabledigitally in full, vivid color. We are committed to highlighting‘Real People, Real Stories’ from Hollywood with positive outlooks, sharing them with our readers around the world," said SOHM founder and editor-in-chief Arnold Garcia. We are reminded of this every time we hear of someone’s death. This realization is especially powerful when the departed was a dear friend or someone you admired greatly. When a favorite celebrity or inspiring role model passes away, it can feel like losing one’s best friend. In this issue, we are celebrating the lives of two entertainment industry professionals who have died in the last year. Here at Shine On Hollywood, we like to honor people who dedicate their lives and careers to giving back to the community and helping others. One of the most apropos times to do so is after such a person has died. This isn’t just a way of remembering and saying farewell. It is also an important part of celebrating life. The cover feature of this issue is Marion Ramsey, a multi-talented actress famous for her role in the Police Academy franchise. She died at age 73 on January 7, 2021. Most people remember her as Officer Laverne Hooks, the squeaky-voiced sergeant with hilarious outbursts, from the first six Police Academy films. However, she had a flourishing career aside from these famous comedies. She was a powerful singer, performing in many Broadway musicals. She also played supporting roles in dozens of films and television series for over three decades. Get to know the “Dusky Diva” through intimate, emotional letters and memories shared by her friends, family, and fellow performers, who remember her as a bundle of joy, bucket of laughs, and ball of fire! Also in this issue, we are bidding farewell to another entertainment industry professional, Bill Bartlett. We lost this vibrant tap and ballroom dancer and teacher at age 80 on August 31, 2020. Although not a big-name star, Bill had a thriving performing career in films, television, and stage productions for six decades, performing with the musical greats of Hollywood’s Golden Era. His iconic dance style lives on through the countless students he inspired. Through an interview with his wife of forty-nine years, Debbie Bartlett, and letters from friends, family members, and students, we’re sharing with you a loving portrait of a wonderful performer, teacher, and man. SOHM remains a politics and gossip-free publication with its focus on “Real People, Real Stories” from the arts and pop culture community, featuring industry professionals who make a difference by giving back. We are delighted to share their heart-felt stories with you. We will continue to provide the industry's foremost creative meeting place with monthly showcases, news, opinions, analysis, and audience feedback. The upcoming March will feature the 4th Annual HFPA Special Edition issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM), featuring the 78th Golden Globes Awards 2021. As the golden Hollywood moon sets on another awards season during this pandemic. Look for exclusive interviews with leading industry professionals. We hope you support this issue and look forward to your feedback and continued support! We are proud to bring you the real people and real stories and that spirit from the arts and pop-culture entertainment that has kept this work so exciting and enlightening. That Shine On Hollywood Magazine is well and strong after eight years is more than I could have ever imagined. The outpouring of love and support from everyone, in the United States, Canada, South America, Central America, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and beyond, has been overwhelming. We hope you enjoy this retrospective issue and look forward to your continued support for our success. Stay safe. As always, we are committed to remaining a gossip and negativity-free publication by avoiding discussion of politics, religion, lifestyle choices, and other divisive content. Instead, we are highlighting positive things which are happening in the arts and entertainment industry. We are honored to present music producer Jay Denton as our cover feature. Born in Dallas, TX, Jay majored in international relations at the University of Southern California, where he began recording music and became interested in global conflict resolution. After graduating, Jay worked in India and East Africa, learning that making music had a bigger impact in the developing world than his other skills. Back in Los Angeles, he began teaching Krav Maga and defensive tactics while pursuing songwriting. In 2018, he founded ENDURE Studios, through which he aims to take a trip every year to a different conflict zone or destabilized region of the world. By writing and recording with local artists in areas affected by war, crisis, or persecution, he gives these artists a voice. In 2019, he traveled to Lebanon to record an album of refugee musicians. The trip produced not only a global album, For Home, but a documentary about its making, Endure: Lebanon. We are also proud to feature Michelle Lewis. This singer and songwriter comes from a musical background, since her father was a saxophonist for Louis Prima’s band, and her mother was a lead singer with Benny Goodman’s band. Michelle joined the “family business” early, singing her first jingle at age five. She went on to become a successful pop singer and songwriter, writing cuts and singles for artists like Cher, Amy Grant, Kelly Osbourne, and British girl group Little Mix. She and her writing partner, Kay Hanley, wrote the music for all five seasons of Disney Junior’s hit animated series Doc McStuffins. Since 2015, she and some friends have been fighting for sustainable digital rates for songwriters through Songwriters of North America (SONA). Also in this issue is Daniel Hernandez, an American Idol finalist. Always singing as a child, he got a part in his first musical at age six. In his school years, he also pursued gymnastics, winning a gold medal at the Grand Canyon Olympics, and broadcast journalism, his major at Arizona State University. However, he ultimately decided to focus on music. He was signed to a major record label at age twenty-two, so he dropped out of college after three and a half years. After not making it past the first round of American Idol’s Season 3, he re-auditioned for Season 7 and went on to take twelfth place. Since then, he has been featured on the Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and many other television shows and live events. He has recently been keeping busy by hosting a live stream every week on Facebook and Instagram. Due to the continuing pandemic, we haven’t been able to review live performances for months. However, we are pleased to now bring you a review of one of the only live Nutcracker performances in Southern California. Performed by The Ballet Studio, Inc. at Europa Village Winery’s outdoor Christmas fair in Temecula Valley Wine Country, this unique ballet performance brought much-needed holiday cheer to its audience members and performers alike. SOHM contributor Tiffany Brannan, who was in the cast, interviews choreographer and director Mark Erickson about how he created his unique version of The Nutcracker, which he has been performing in Temecula since 2004, and why he thought it was important to put it on this year, despite all odds. In January, we will bring you special farewell coverage of Marion Ramsey, a talented actress known for her role in Police Academy (1984) and for her many Broadway appearances. We also will be bidding farewell to tap dancer Bill Bartlett, a bright light in the film industry who dedicated his life to inspiring others. Thank you for your continued support of Shine On Hollywood Magazine! We can’t wait to bring you more uplifting content in 2021. Merry Christmas! Enjoy, SOHM Team Welcome to the July-September 2020 issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine (“SOHM”), the 8 Year Anniversary Special Edition. As president and founder of the Hollywood Museum, chair of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and co-founder of the José Iturbi Foundation, Miss “D.D.” Dadigan is one of the most influential women in Hollywood. She also is the goddaughter of famous classical pianist and conductor José Iturbi. Through her museum of film memorabilia, her foundation for encouraging young classical pianists and singers, and her work with the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Donelle is keeping Hollywood’s golden past alive to inspire the next generation of performers and audiences. Speaking of Hollywood history, SOHM is continuing to highlight past Golden Globe Ambassadors, formerly called Miss (or Mr.) Golden Globe. The title “Miss Golden Globe” was created in 1963 to honor up-and-coming actresses, who would help preside over the awards ceremony. Since 1971, the honorees have been the children of stars. In SOHM’s last issue, we covered the two 1963 honorees, Eva Six and Donna Douglas. In this issue, we are continuing with the next two honorees, Linda Evans (1964) and Gila Golan (1965), who both have fascinating stories. Miss Evans started studying drama at fourteen to overcome her shyness and became the leading lady in one of the most popular 1980s nighttime soap operas, Dynasty. Gila Golan went from a Polish World War II foundling with no family and no name to Miss Israel in 1960, eventually acting on film and television in the 1960s. Returning to current affairs, not all artists are dormant during the lockdown. While theaters are closed, the Martha Graham Dance Company has stayed busy by partnering with the Soraya at Cal State Fullerton and the Wild-Up chamber music group to create a reimagined version of Martha Graham’s Immediate Tragedy from 1937. Originally inspired by the Spanish Civil War, this contemporary dance was rechoreographed by Janet Eilber of the Martha Graham Dance Company and the fourteen dancers who performed it to reflect our country’s current “immediate tragedy.” Read about the tenacity, research, and technology which allowed these twenty-two artists to create and perform this world premiere virtually on June 19, 2020, all in separate locations. Also in this issue is a feature on the lockdown’s positive aspects which the Kramer family have discovered. Karen Sharpe-Kramer, actress, producer, and widow of Golden Era film mogul Stanley Kramer, and her two daughters, Kat and Jennifer, have been very productive while staying at their Los Angeles home. In addition to learning to work better together, they have enjoyed special bonding time. Perhaps you too have experienced unexpected benefits from the lockdown. We encourage you to reflect on good things about the past few months and ponder how you can cherish a deeper appreciation for family, friends, and life’s simple pleasures for the rest of your life! We also are bidding two wonderful lights in the entertainment industry farewell in this issue, Bonnie Pointer, singer, songwriter, and founding member of the Pointer Sisters, and Irene Soderberg, a dynamic performer and “fairy godmother” who raised millions for charities. Although their time on this earth has ended, their talent, vivacious personality, and incomparable artistic output live on! We encourage you to “Let them be your motivation.” About SOHM Shine on Hollywood Magazine was founded in July 2012 and is considered one of the top entertainment, popular culture and lifestyle magazines in Hollywood.
